India Vs Srilanka 2008

On: Sunday, August 24, 2008

India and Sri Lanka go head to head in a five match ODI series from tomorrow. The first two matches are day games that will be played in Dambulla while the next three matches are day night games to played in the Premdasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka seem to have tabs on the Indian team having come up on top in the recent encounters as they beat them in the recent three test series and also the Asia Cup. With mystery spinner Mendis and the great Muralitharan in their ranks, they are well set to dominate the upcoming ODI series as well.

India on the other hand have to find many answers. Both their test and ODI batting line-ups have failed against the Lankan spinners and they are desperate to break the shackles. Yuvraj Singh warmed up with a masterly 172 in the only practice match, but the fact remains that there were hardly any serious bowlers in that game. The Indians will also miss the experience of Sachin Tendulkar at the top who will miss his third consecutive ODI series due to injury. He had earlier missed the Kitply cup and the Asia cup too. But there is some other good news as coach Gary Kirsten will be joining the team before the first match begins.
