New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today congratulated master batsman, Sachin Tendulkar on becoming the highest run scorer in Test Cricket today, during the first day of the Second Test against Australia at Mohali.
In his message, the Prime Minister said, "I congratulate Tendulkar on becoming the highest run scorer in Test Cricket.
This is yet another milestone in his glittering career. His achievements are a source of national pride. I wish him greater laurels in future." Tendulkar completed 12000 runs in Tests today.
Tendulkar achieved the feat with his 61st run, a flick down to square-leg of Australian leg-spinner Cameron White. He was given a huge round of applause by his team mates and cricket fans.
Tendulkar, a right-hand bat has played 152 Test matches and scored 12000 runs at an astounding average of 54.29.
Earlier in his innings, Tendulkar became the highest scorer in Tests by surpassing West Indian batsman Brian Lara's record of 11953 runs. The record came with his 15th run. That landmark was also greeted with joy by players on both sides and the crowd that was watching the match. (ANI)
